Anyone deal with legal stuff like this before...?

So I filed an objection in court because the other side keeps pulling all these last-minute moves. Like, they didn’t even file a Notice of Appearance and sent stuff super late, the night before a hearing. I feel like their lawyer is just being disrespectful, even tossing papers on my table in court. Has anyone been through something like this? Any advice?

That sounds super frustrating. Did the judge say anything about their behaviour?

Yeah, the judge did call them out, but still let it slide somehow. :man_shrugging:

Wait, what’s a Notice of Appearance? Is it mandatory?

It’s basically a formal way for their lawyer to let the court know they’re representing someone. It’s required in Indiana.

Oh wow, and they just skipped it? That’s wild.

Last-minute filings are so annoying. Did you ask for any penalties for their delays?

I brought it up, but I mostly focused on pointing out how unfair their tactics were.

They’re making you pay for extra copies of stuff too? That’s messed up.

Right? $33 isn’t much, but it’s the principle. Why should I cover their mess?

Did the respondent really remove their mailbox to avoid getting served? That’s some next-level dodging.

Yup. Claimed they don’t live there but told cops they do. It’s ridiculous.

Sounds like their lawyer’s trying to wear you down. Stay strong—you’ve got a good case!

Thanks! It’s been a lot, but I’m not giving up.
