Anyone else been bankrupted in error due to court negligence... what can you do?

Hey everyone, I was also wrongfully bankrupted due to a judge’s mistake. I appealed and got a full discharge, and was told I was never actually bankrupt. But when I asked about getting compensation for the mistake, I was told I couldn’t because of the judge’s error. I lost over £1 million when my company went into receivership. Anyone else dealt with something like this or know if there’s any way to claim compensation?

That’s a tough situation! IDK much about compensation, but I’ve heard that you can lodge a complaint with the Lord Chancellor’s office if it’s court negligence. They have the power to grant compensation in some cases, but not sure how it works in practice.

That’s wild… losing that much must’ve been devastating. I don’t know much about the legal side, but if you were told you couldn’t get compensation, it’s worth asking a solicitor to review your case again.

I’ve had some experience with bankruptcy law, and it’s tough to get compensation for court errors, but if the judge was negligent, it could be different. The Lord Chancellor’s office could help, like others said. I’d follow up with them.

That sounds like such a nightmare. Definitely look into the Lord Chancellor’s office, and maybe even contact a lawyer who specializes in insolvency cases. They might have some insight on whether there’s a chance for compensation, even if it seems unlikely.

I would get a second opinion from a solicitor. It sounds like there might be something more you can do if the judge was truly negligent, even if they say no compensation at first. Couldn’t hurt to try!
