I’ve lived at Tara Condos for two years, and just yesterday, my assigned parking space got given to someone else without any heads-up. I’m feeling like this might be some kind of discrimination. Anyone else been through this?
That sucks! Did you talk to the landlord about it?

Yeah, he actually just found out about it yesterday too. Told me to just find another spot until the 15th when the HOA will make adjustments, but it’s still not fair.

Wait, so you’re just supposed to figure it out on your own until then? That’s messed up.

I’d be fuming too! If it’s in your rental agreement, they should stick to it. Maybe put it in writing?
Do you have anything in writing that says it’s your designated space? Might help to show that to management.

Yeah, it’s right there in my rental agreement—space #6 is mine. It’s pretty frustrating to just lose it out of the blue.

Maybe they’re allowed to reassign, but they should at least tell you. Hope it gets resolved soon!
Sounds like a breach of contract if you ask me. Have you considered taking legal action?

Funny you mention that—I actually consulted a lawyer. If they don’t resolve it by the 7th, I might go that route.

Good for you! They can’t just ignore the agreement like that.
Is it possible they made a mistake? Like, could the HOA have messed up with the assignments?

That’s what I’m hoping. But the fact that I wasn’t informed beforehand makes it feel more intentional. Plus, other tenants still have their spaces.

Maybe they thought you wouldn’t notice? Sometimes these HOAs don’t communicate well at all.
Did you try contacting the HOA directly? They should be able to explain why this happened.

My landlord said the HOA board member made the change. I think it’s Darla Suder who made the decision, but there’s been zero communication.

Oof, yeah, sounds like they’re dropping the ball. Hopefully, they’ll come around if you keep pressing them.
