Anyone else dealing with Wright Hassall and a CCJ?

So, I’ve been trying to figure out this debt claim from Wright Hassall, but it’s been a mess. I asked them for details and proof, but they just ignored my requests. Now, they’ve gone ahead and got a CCJ against me—this happened the day before I contacted the court. To make things worse, I was dealing with a family bereavement during all of this and didn’t pay enough attention to their letters. I just got an N244 form from Northampton and I’m not sure how to move forward. Anyone dealt with something like this before? Any advice on how to deal with the N244 or taking action against Wright Hassall? I feel like I’ve been treated unfairly…

Ugh, that sounds really stressful. I had something similar happen with a debt collector once. You’re supposed to get documentation of the debt, so they’re definitely in the wrong for not sending you that. If you’re using the N244, it’s basically to ask the court to set aside the judgment, but you’ll need to show why it’s unfair. Have you talked to a solicitor about it? It might help your case.

I don’t have personal experience with this, but from what I know, it sounds like you’ve got grounds to challenge the CCJ. Did you send them the form asking for more info before the judgment was made? It might be worth sending a formal complaint if you haven’t already.

Totally get why you’re frustrated. If you’re planning to take action against Wright Hassall, make sure you’re keeping a record of everything you’ve sent them. Even small things like emails or letters can help your case. It’s a pain, but hang in there.

What’s the N244 form for again? I’m not familiar with it.

It seems like they’ve really dropped the ball by not sending you proof. You might want to start by sending them a formal letter demanding the documentation. That could be the first step before going further with the N244.
