Anyone else having trouble with missing service credits for teaching years?

So I’ve been going through this crazy situation where my years of teaching experience just aren’t being counted for my pay grade. I worked for Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District (GLCSD) from 2016-2024, but the pay records from three other districts I worked at (Lakeside High School, Houston ISD, and Austin ISD) weren’t considered. I’ve had issues with getting this resolved for months now, and it seems like I keep hitting dead ends. Has anyone else had similar problems with service credits not being recognized or contracts being messed up? Any advice?

Ugh, sounds like a nightmare. I’ve had issues with not getting the credit I deserve too, especially with past districts not counting. Did they give you a reason why they’re not including those years?

No real reason, just a lot of back and forth. At first, they said they’d fix it in the 2024-2025 contract, but then they just didn’t follow through. So frustrating.

Same here! I worked for another district before GLCSD and the service records were all over the place. I had to go through the same cycle of emails and phone calls to get them to acknowledge it. Any luck on getting through to HR?

@HazelOwen3
Not much luck with HR. They keep saying things like ‘we’ll look into it’ but then nothing happens. I even tried talking to the superintendent a few times, but I never got any real answers.

Wow, that’s really frustrating. I had something similar happen with my pay, and it took forever to get it sorted. Do you have all the emails and records from them promising you credit?

Yeah, I’ve got everything documented—emails, records, everything. But it doesn’t seem to help much when they’re just ignoring it.

If you have all the documents, you might want to file a formal grievance. That’s what I did when I had issues with my pay grade being messed up. It helped get some attention on the issue.

I’m thinking about that, honestly. The whole situation feels like they’re just dragging their feet. A grievance might be the next step.

Have you considered filing with the EEOC? If they’re not giving you credit for your service, that could be a discrimination issue too. It might be worth looking into.

I thought about the EEOC, but I wasn’t sure if that was the right route. You think it could be discrimination?

Yeah, if they’re ignoring your years of service and not following through with what was promised, that might be worth investigating. It’s worth checking out at least.
