Anyone else struggling to get money after a court judgment?

I got a County Court judgment against Story Terrace Ltd (now Eternal Lives Ltd), but I’m having a hard time getting them to pay up. They still trade as Story Terrace, but their name change is making things tricky. Plus, my bank won’t give me the account details to issue a Third Party Debt Order. They also keep ignoring my emails but still send me messages. Anyone else dealing with this? Any tips?

That sounds frustrating… Have you tried using the county court bailiffs? They might be able to help get the money for you.

I haven’t tried that yet, honestly. I thought they might not be able to seize anything since it’s a service company. The registered address is a bit weird too.

@Asher
Ah, I get that. But if they still have assets or money coming in, bailiffs might still be able to help. It’s worth a shot.

Yeah, I had a similar issue. It sounds like they might be trying to dodge responsibility. Maybe check if the new company is registered anywhere to get a sense of where to go next.

I looked them up, and it turns out they’re in administration now, but still trading as Story Terrace. It’s really confusing!

That’s messed up. It’s like they’re trying to leave all their debt behind. I’d definitely look into being added as an unsecured creditor if you haven’t already.

That’s rough. I’ve had issues with companies doing this too. They change names to try and run away from their debts. But I’d still try pursuing a judgment against them.

Yeah, I’m wondering if it’s even worth it to go after them under the new name. Do you think it’s just going to be a waste of time?

@Asher
Unfortunately, they could just open another company if it gets too heated. But it’s worth trying anyway. You already have a judgment, so you might as well.

I would think they’d keep changing names to avoid paying up. It’s a shame, but companies can get away with that kind of stuff. Maybe going public would put some pressure on them?

Yeah, I was thinking about going public with the court judgment too. But I’m not sure how much that would really help…

@Asher
It could make them look bad, but proving fraudulent intent is tough. Still, it might pressure them to settle.

I’m no expert, but if they’ve gone into administration, you might just want to add yourself to the creditor list. There’s a chance you might not get your money back, but it’s better than nothing.

Yeah, I think that’s the route I’ll go. Thanks for the advice!
