Anyone else stuck in child support limbo?

Hey folks… just wanted to share my experience with the whole child support mess I’m dealing with. My ex and I finalized our divorce on 03/04/2024, but it seems like everything is on hold. The judge said my ex’s income was a bit of a mystery, so we reserved all child support matters. After losing my job, I applied for SNAP, and that pulled the DOR into the mix. They filed a motion on 06/10/2024 to establish child support, but even after I gave them my ex’s new address, they still tried to serve him at the wrong one. It’s been a hassle, and now I’m just waiting… anyone else have a similar experience?

That sounds super frustrating. I had a similar thing happen with my ex. They just keep dragging their feet.

Ugh, I feel you. It really makes you wonder how they can just sit on these cases.

Wow, so you’ve been waiting since June? That’s a long time. Have you tried reaching out to anyone higher up at the DOR?

Yeah, I’ve reached out a ton, but they just keep saying it’s under review… so annoying.

I’ve read about this before. Sometimes they just need a little push. Maybe file a motion yourself?

What do you mean by filing a motion? IDK much about that stuff.

Oh, it’s basically asking the court to do something. You can request a hearing to get updates or push for action.

This is such a mess… I can’t believe he hasn’t provided his financial info yet. That’s a big red flag.

Sounds like a classic case of procrastination. I hope you get it sorted soon!

Thanks! I really hope so too. Just trying to hang in there for the kids.
