Anyone know how to get a copy of my car title... without money?

Hey, so I’m in a bit of a bind. I need to get a copy of my car title but I don’t have any money right now, and I can’t even access my bank account. I need it for selling my car, but I’m not sure where to start. Anyone been through this? Any ideas?

You could try reaching out to your local DMV. I know they can usually help you get a copy, but there might be a fee for it.

Yeah, they’ll probably ask for some documents and a fee, but I’d try calling them to explain your situation. They might have some options for you.

Totally, you can also check their website for forms or info about applying for a copy of the title.

I think there’s something called an ‘Affidavit of Loss/Release of Interest’ form you can fill out. You’ll need to get it notarized though. Not sure about the fees, but worth a shot!

Oh, I didn’t know about that! Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into it.

I’m not sure about Washington specifically, but in some states they have quick title services where you can get the title right away, but they charge extra. Could be worth it if you’re in a rush.

Ooh, that’s good to know! I might check if they have that option where I am. Thanks!

Yeah, I had to get my title replaced once, and the DMV charged a fee. You might need to borrow money from family or friends, though, since I don’t think you can avoid the fees completely.

That’s what I figured, but I don’t have anyone I can ask right now. I guess I’ll have to figure something out. Thanks for the advice!

If you don’t have money for the title fee, maybe try selling something to raise the cash? Could be a quick fix if you need it fast.

Yeah, I might have to do that. I didn’t really want to sell anything, but looks like I might not have a choice. Thanks for the suggestion.
