Anyone know how to speed up a felony case review in California?

Hey, so I was charged with 3 felonies about 10 months ago in California, and my case is still under review. It’s seriously dragging on, and I’m just wondering if there’s any way to expedite it. I didn’t get an attorney, just never got around to it. Anyone been through this or know what to do?

Man, that sounds rough. You might wanna get an attorney ASAP. They’re the best bet for moving things forward, especially with felony cases.

Yeah, for real. An attorney can push for a faster review. Plus, they’ll know how to navigate the system better than doing it solo.

@Kim
I guess you’re right… just kinda put it off since I didn’t know where to start. Any tips on finding a good one?

Have you tried reaching out to the DA’s office or the court clerk? Sometimes just asking about the status can light a fire under them.

Good call. I did that once when my case was stuck. They gave me some info on why it was delayed.

What’s the DA’s office? Sorry if that’s a dumb question…

@Devi
Nah, not dumb at all! DA stands for District Attorney. They handle prosecuting criminal cases. You can call them to check your case status.

Honestly, not getting a lawyer might’ve slowed it down. They usually handle all the back-and-forth for you. Definitely worth looking into now.

Yeah, plus if they see you’re serious about representation, they might speed it up. Courts don’t like to waste time.

Have you been keeping records and documents about your case? If you end up getting a lawyer, they’ll need everything.

Not really… I probably should have kept more track of stuff. Guess I’ll start gathering what I have.

If you’re not getting any updates, maybe check if your case got lost in the system. It happens sometimes. Calling the court could help.

That’s a good point. A friend of mine had his case sit for months because they just forgot to update it.
