Hey everyone, I’m a retired Lt Colonel, U.S. Army combat vet with 3 tours in Afghanistan, and I’ve been dealing with some serious issues with the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and the VA medical system. I’m a whistleblower who exposed some stuff that’s been impacting a lot of soldiers’ careers. The problem is that now I’m facing retaliation, and I’m not getting the medical help I need. I have two tumors in my large intestine, and the DHA and VA are ignoring it. I even got my TRICARE cancelled after filing a complaint with the Army hospital at Ft. Riley. Can anyone point me to a lawyer who can handle this kind of case? I’m trying to figure out how to address these violations under Title 10, subsection 1034. Thanks for any help! - Charles A. Jarnot, LTC U.S. Army (ret.)
Hey Charles, sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like you need someone who specializes in federal whistleblower protections and retaliation claims. Have you already contacted any lawyer referral services or veterans’ groups? They might be able to help connect you to someone who can take on your case.
@Jessie
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve reached out to some groups, but it’s been hard to get a response. I’ve also tried IG offices but no luck for over two years.

Ugh, that’s frustrating. Have you tried checking out veterans’ legal aid organizations? They might have more direct connections with lawyers who deal with cases like yours. Just make sure they specialize in military whistleblower stuff, it can get pretty complex.
Wow, this is seriously concerning. I’m not sure about the specifics, but if you’re looking for legal advice, you might want to check with lawyers who specialize in VA claims and military law. It could make a big difference in finding the right person to handle your case.
@Jody
I’ll look into that. Thanks for the advice! The whole process feels like a maze, but I’ll keep pushing.
Hey Charles, sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through. This sounds like a big mess. A lot of the top lawyers in this area are part of larger organizations that focus on federal employee rights. Have you looked into legal referral services from veteran organizations?
@Bennett
Yeah, I’ve reached out, but I think I need someone who really understands the specifics of Title 10. The retaliation part is tricky, especially with the medical side.

Definitely. I’d recommend focusing on a firm that handles both federal and military retaliation cases. You might want to start with organizations like the National Whistleblower Center, or even the VA’s advocacy program.
I’m really sorry you’re dealing with all this, Charles. If you’re dealing with Title 10 violations, you may want to look into legal aid services for veterans. Some of them specialize in protecting your rights, including medical treatment denial and retaliation.
@Kirby
I’ve been trying to get legal help, but so far it’s been tough. The whole VA situation feels like it’s gotten worse over the years.
Sounds like you’re in a really tough spot, Charles. If you’ve got proof of the reprisals, a good lawyer should be able to help. Have you tried contacting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or an organization that specifically handles medical treatment cases?
@Gale
I’ve contacted them, but so far no one has taken action. I’m still fighting to get the medical attention I need, which is pretty frustrating at this point.
