Hey everyone, I’m trying to find an attorney who can help with a Camp Lejeune water contamination case. My father-in-law was stationed there during the contamination period and passed away from a mix of Crohn’s and cancer. We’re just checking if we have a possible claim. Anyone been through this or have suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Sorry to hear about your father-in-law. You could try finding an attorney who specializes in environmental law or personal injury cases. Have you gathered any medical records yet?

Not yet, but we’re certain he used the water during boot camp. He started showing symptoms of Crohn’s a few years after leaving the military.

You might want to start with medical records—they can be crucial for building your case. Have you looked into any specific law firms?
The Camp Lejeune cases have specific lawyers working on them. Maybe check out lawyer directories like Lawyer Legion or even Yelp?

Oh, good call. I didn’t even think of Yelp for lawyers. I’ll check those out, thanks!

Yelp is actually pretty good for this kind of thing, lol. Plus, local law schools sometimes offer free legal help if you’re on a budget.
If you don’t already have an attorney, the Legal Services Corporation might help. They connect people to legal aid services.

Thanks, I’ll look into that. Do they specialize in cases like this or just general legal aid?

They’re more general, but they could point you toward someone who specializes in Camp Lejeune cases.
The contamination happened between 1953 and 1987, right? If your father-in-law was there during that time, it’s worth pursuing. Have you tried the resources at lsc.gov?

He was there during boot camp, so it should fall within that timeline. I’ll check out LSC, thanks!
You might want to reach out to military legal aid organizations. They sometimes have experience with Camp Lejeune-related cases.

I hadn’t thought about military-specific organizations. That’s a great idea, thank you!
