Both my Bombardier quads won’t start... any ideas?

I have two Bombardier quads, one’s a DS 50 and the other’s a DS 90. I got them both about two months ago and they worked fine. But now, neither of them will start. No cranking at all. I put brand new batteries in last time, but I did leave the keys in the ‘on’ position when not in use. I can jump the starter and the engine cranks, but there’s no spark. Do you think I might’ve burned out the starter or CDI by leaving the keys on for so long?

Hmm, sounds like it could be the CDI. I’ve heard those can fry pretty easily. Have you checked any fuses? Maybe the ignition fuse or any others?

Yeah, I found a fuse near the battery, but it looked fine. No burns or smells from anything under the black cover either.

If you’ve checked the wiring and fuse and everything seems good, it could definitely be the CDI. They’re not expensive, so you could try swapping it out to see if that fixes the spark issue.

Yeah, I was thinking of that. I’ve heard they’re pretty cheap on Amazon. I might just grab one and see if that works.

Did you notice anything off with the ignition switch? Maybe it’s not connecting properly? That could cause no cranking or spark.

The ignition seems to work fine, I haven’t noticed anything weird with it. But I’ll keep an eye out for that when I try again.

I had a similar issue with my quad once, and it turned out the CDI was fried from the key being left on for too long. Definitely worth checking. You can usually find them cheap online.

That’s what I was thinking! I’ll grab one and see if it helps. Thanks for the advice!

Just FYI, some quads have additional fuses hidden in other places. If you’re still stuck, it might be worth asking a mechanic to check everything over.

Good to know, I’ll double-check for any hidden fuses. I’ll probably get a mechanic to look at it if the CDI swap doesn’t work.
