I’m a bit confused about this whole scheduling thing. My company wants me to give them a two-week schedule of when I’ll be available each month. They said I can work more if I want, but if I work less, I have to let them know. I thought as an independent contractor, I had more freedom to choose my hours. Is this even allowed in Texas? Anyone else run into this?
Yeah, that sounds kinda weird for an independent contractor. They can ask, but it seems a bit controlling to me.

Right? I thought we were supposed to set our own hours. What do you think the law says?
@Flynn
IDK exactly, but I think it depends on your contract. You might want to check that.
In Texas, you usually have more flexibility. They can ask, but you’re not obligated to stick to a strict schedule.

That’s good to know. So, if I don’t want to give them a schedule, I might be okay?
@Arun
Yeah, just make sure it’s clear in your contract. You might need to talk to them about it.
I’m in a similar boat. They asked me for a schedule too, but I just let them know I’ll update them as needed.
