Can I get my 2006 window tint citation dismissed?

So, I got this citation from 2006 for window tint in TX. I never paid it back then because I was a young soldier and thought it wasn’t a big deal. I got pulled over for it on the interstate. Now, I’ve always been able to renew my license every time, but after my last renewal in April, I got a letter saying my renewal was declined until I pay the fee. The thing is, I don’t even have the car anymore. Any idea if I can get this dismissed or what I should do?

Have you heard anything from the court about it? Like, did they contact you after the renewal was declined?

No, just DPS. They said I can’t renew until I pay it, but no word from the court yet.

I think if you don’t have any proof of the citation, you can just go to the DMV and get it dismissed. They should just take care of it if you don’t own the car anymore.

I wasn’t sure if that would actually work. Thanks for the heads up though! I’ll try it.

You could try reaching out to the Traffic Lawyer for help. It looks like they can guide you through it and help with the dismissal process.

Yeah, I already reached out to them. They said if I show up in court, it should be dismissed automatically since I don’t have the car anymore.

Oh wow, that’s a long time ago. But it makes sense that if you don’t have the car, it’s not your issue anymore. Just show up in court, I guess.

I had a similar situation where I got a fine I didn’t pay, and I was able to get it dismissed without much trouble. Just make sure to bring any proof you have, like the info on the DPS website.

Thanks, I’ll make sure to bring everything I have from the DPS website. Hopefully, it’ll go smoothly.
