I had an incident on September 19th where a rock hauler dropped a big piece of concrete on the George Bush Turnpike around 2-2:30 in the afternoon. I need to find footage to track down the company responsible. The truck had ‘L & D’ from Keller, Texas, on the passenger door, and it was a red cab. Anyone know how I could get video from that area?
Sorry that happened to you! Have you tried reaching out to the department that manages the turnpike? They might be able to point you in the right direction.

I haven’t yet…not sure who to contact exactly. Any idea which department handles these things?
@Cedar
Usually the state or city’s transportation department would have control over those cameras. You might have to call around a bit though.
If the turnpike has traffic cameras, they might have footage saved. You’ll probably need to request it ASAP before it gets deleted.

Good point. Do you know if there’s a process for getting them to save it?
@Cedar
I’d try sending a ‘preservation letter’—it’s basically a formal request for them to keep the video. Otherwise, you’d probably need a lawyer to get a subpoena.
@Cedar
Thanks! Guess I’ll have to look into that option.
You could try contacting local law enforcement too. They might have records or advice on which department to go through for footage requests.

Didn’t think of that! I’ll check with them.
The company name being visible is helpful. Maybe you could look them up directly and reach out. Sometimes they have logs if the drivers report incidents.

I’ll try that. Couldn’t find a phone number on the truck, though, so I might have to dig a bit.
@Cedar
Try searching for L & D from Keller, TX online. If they’re local, they might have an office listed nearby.
You might need a lawyer if you can’t get the footage directly. They can guide you on sending a preservation request or even getting a subpoena.

I was hoping to avoid that route if possible. Sounds complicated…
@Cedar
Yeah, legal stuff can be a hassle, but it might be worth it if the damage is serious.
