My grandson attended a private school here in Midland, TX, and the way he was treated has led him to need ongoing therapy. My son started filing a complaint against the school counselor, but he sadly passed away before he could complete it. I want to continue what he began and file this complaint with the board. Has anyone else dealt with a situation like this?
I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. You might need to contact the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council directly. They should have a process for continuing a complaint if the filer has passed away.
@Leith
Thank you, I’ll reach out to them again. Just wasn’t sure how to keep it going after my son passed.
If you’re considering legal support, an attorney might be able to help navigate the process for continuing the complaint formally.

Good suggestion, thanks. I’ve thought about that but wasn’t sure where to start.
Keeping records of everything could help you present a stronger case. Documentation is key, especially when dealing with state boards.

Absolutely, I have a lot of the records my son kept. Hopefully, they’ll be enough.
As a social worker, you probably know how the complaint process works, but getting another professional’s perspective could be helpful too.

True, sometimes it’s helpful to get advice from someone with fresh eyes on it. Thanks!
Sorry you’re dealing with this. If there’s any way to bring in an advocate for your grandson, it might help speed up the process with the board.

Good idea, an advocate could be helpful. I’ll look into that too.
