Hey everyone, just following up on a conversation from a few weeks ago. I’m wondering if my situation could be grounds for a show cause board? I had a referred OER after failing to meet body fat standards while stationed in Germany, but I was on the list for a compassionate reassignment back to the US. I couldn’t complete my supplemental body fat assessment because of that. After I PCS’d, I was in compliance with my last weigh-in. However, there was an IG complaint filed from my old unit months later, and now I’m wondering if this will trigger a show cause board. Any thoughts?
Hey, I’ve been in a similar situation. A referred OER can definitely trigger a show cause board, especially if there’s a serious allegation in the IG complaint. Did they provide any results from the investigation?
@Jackteagarden1
Not yet, still waiting on that. It’s been a few weeks now and I haven’t heard anything back. I’m kinda in the dark about it.
@Jackteagarden1
Yeah, sounds like they’re taking their time. If the IG complaint was serious, your current command will decide whether to push for administrative actions. Keep pushing to get those results!
I’ve had something similar happen with an IG complaint. The thing is, if it’s just about a failed body fat test and not something more serious, it might not lead to a board. But if there’s any misconduct involved, that could be different.
@Fifer
Yeah, I’m just waiting to see if it’s related to the body fat thing or if it’s something else. It’s been so long since it was filed, I’m not sure what’s going on.
It sounds like the IG complaint was filed because you got promoted despite not meeting the standard. If the complaint alleges misconduct, that could potentially trigger a board, but it depends on what they find.
@Zander
That’s what I thought too. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what they come back with. But it’s frustrating not knowing what’s going on.
I’m no expert, but if you haven’t been counseled or flagged, that’s a good sign. Maybe they’ll just drop the complaint if they don’t find anything serious. Still, it’s definitely worth checking with your command.
@Cale
I didn’t get flagged or counseled, so that’s a good point. I’ll reach out to my current command to get more clarity on what’s going on.
Definitely request the IG investigation results. It could help clear things up and give you a better idea of where you stand. You don’t want to be left in the dark, especially with something this important.
@Whit
I plan to! I’ll make sure I get those results soon. Thanks for the advice!
