Do you represent Soldiers in academic review boards?

Hey, I’m wondering if anyone here knows if lawyers can represent Soldiers in academic review boards? I’ve just been through the counseling and was given the option to have one, but I’m not sure what steps to take next. Can anyone help or share their experience with this?

Hey, I think lawyers can help with representing Soldiers during the process, but they mostly assist with the counseling and election part. I had a similar situation before.

Got it, so they can help with the election part of it. Does anyone know how the whole review board process works? I’m kinda lost.

@Haru
Yeah, so once you’re through with counseling and elect to have the board, it’s basically a chance for you to explain why things went wrong and show you’re working to improve. But you should definitely gather any proof or stuff that shows you’re trying to get back on track.

@Lyric
Thanks! That makes sense. Should I also be keeping track of any improvements I make in the meantime?

For sure, anything that shows you’re making an effort can help. Like extra work or stuff you did to fix the issues.

I’m in a similar spot, had my counseling today too. They said they’ll follow up with more details. No timeline yet tho…

Same here, I haven’t gotten a timeline either. They just said they’d follow up after the counseling.

Definitely check in with your chain of command for updates. The boards usually follow a set timeline once things get rolling.

It’s good you’re already aware of the review process. The more prepared you are, the better! I’d also suggest looking up the standards you’re supposed to meet, so you know exactly where you stand.

Thanks! I’ll go over the standards and see what’s missing. Just want to make sure I’m ready.

To add on, sometimes the board might consider giving you a second chance or letting you repeat parts of the program if they think you can turn things around. Just be honest and show you’re committed to improving!
