Hey, I have a question about military benefits after a civil divorce. My ex-military spouse is applying for an annulment with the Catholic Church, even though our civil divorce was final. If the annulment is granted, would the military change anything about the benefits in our civil agreement? Things like health insurance, pension, etc. Anyone know if the annulment affects those?
I don’t think so. The military follows the divorce decree that was awarded, so unless the military is involved in the annulment, it won’t change your benefits. The annulment only matters for remarriage in the church, not the military benefits.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. The church annulment doesn’t really impact your military stuff. The civil divorce already divided the benefits.
The annulment is just for the church, not the military. No matter what, the civil divorce and any related agreements like pension or health insurance should stay the same.

Right! It’s just a church thing. I know someone who had the same issue, and it didn’t affect their military benefits.
I agree with the others. I think the church annulment just lets your ex get remarried in the church but doesn’t change the legal divorce settlement. So, your benefits should stay as they are.

From what I understand, no state can change the military benefits based on the annulment. It’s set by the divorce agreement. So, it should be fine!

No worries about the annulment affecting benefits. The civil divorce and QDRO are what matter for military stuff. Annulment is a church thing, so it’s all good.
