Father won't allow any communication with my daughter... is this allowed?

The judge just assigned a new schedule for my 6-year-old daughter: week on and week off. She has never gone 7 days without me or her father. Now, my ex won’t allow me to talk to our daughter while she’s with him for that whole week. Is that allowed? The court order doesn’t mention anything about communication. Do I need to refile to enforce communication with my daughter?

You should definitely consult with a family law attorney. If the order doesn’t specify communication, you might have grounds to request an amendment.

That sounds really frustrating! Communication is important for kids, especially at that age. You might want to document everything that’s happening.

I think you can file a motion to clarify the order. The judge might allow for regular communication if it’s in the best interest of your daughter.

It’s definitely worth addressing this in court. You don’t want to lose that connection with your daughter.

Good luck! I hope you can work this out. Kids need to feel secure with both parents.
