Feeling super hopeless right now. I’m getting evicted and I’ve got nowhere to go with my daughter. I was trying to pay but things got bad over the summer, less work, got sick from mold in the place, just a mess. I’ve been asking for help for weeks. Management knew about the mold since 2021. Has anyone been through this? Any tips or advice?
Ugh I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Did the landlord give an official eviction notice?

Yeah they did… it’s all official now. Just feeling stuck tbh.

Has there been a court order yet? Like signed by a judge?

Not yet, I don’t think. Still waiting to see if that happens. Idk what my next step should be.
If mold made you sick and they knew since 2021, that’s serious. You might have legal grounds there.

Wait fr? So if mold caused health stuff they can’t just kick you out?

Yeah, housing issues from mold are a thing. Could be worth talking to a lawyer about it.
Look into rental assistance ASAP. Some areas still have programs running. Could help with the balance.

Thanks… I’ve been trying but it’s been a struggle. Still hoping something comes through soon.
Try negotiating a payment plan with them. Sometimes that buys a bit of time even if you’re behind.

I second this. My cousin did that and it gave her a few extra weeks to figure stuff out.

Yeah I tried, they weren’t super helpful. But maybe I’ll give it another shot.
FYI—you can’t legally be removed until there’s a court order signed by a judge. Just in case you didn’t know.
