I traded my BMW 440 for a BMW 840 last month, and I got a letter from FLHSMV saying they weren’t notified about the change. I called my insurance (GEICO), and they confirmed they started insurance on the new car right after the trade. Anyone else had this issue? Not sure what’s holding things up…
I went through something similar when I traded my car. Did you try checking the FLHSMV site? They sometimes have an online status check.

Yeah, the letter had a link for checking online, but I couldn’t figure out where to enter my driver’s license info… kind of confusing.
@Laine
I get it… their site can be tricky. Maybe give them a call directly? Sometimes talking to someone helps more than their online forms.
This happened to me too. My insurance didn’t notify the DMV right away. I ended up having to follow up with both the DMV and my insurer.

Did it take long to get sorted? Not sure how much back-and-forth this will take…
@Laine
It was about two weeks after I called them. They had me email proof of my insurance on the new car. After that, the DMV finally updated it.
Just a heads-up, sometimes they charge a fee for updating info late. Make sure you’re not missing any deadlines.

Good call! The letter mentioned something about a 30-day window. I’m at about a month now, so I should probably get this sorted ASAP.
Have you tried the online chat support? They walked me through a similar issue last year.

Haven’t tried that yet, but sounds like a good idea. I’ll check if that’s an option on their site.
Could be a delay with the insurance company. Sometimes they notify the DMV in batches. Definitely worth checking with GEICO again.

True. They told me it was processed, but I guess I should double-check they sent it to the DMV too.
