It’s the same company/hospital but a different location. We were sent to a different location because the location we initially went to does not have a pediatric department with the right equipment to remove the thermometer cover from a child’s rectum. So yes, the second hospital is where the tests/procedures were done.
@Amar
Okay that makes sense. Different location and team could indicate why they weren’t willing to immediately write off the nurses’ mistake, but the billing department will likely still be helpful. It took almost two months of constantly bothering them, but I had an error from an urgent care cause a lot of avoidable costs in emergency fees a week later within the same hospital network but different locations and billing was eventually able to get the bills for both visits waived.
Maybe contact a hospital administrator (probably take a few emails before you get directed to one) and then describe what happened and explain you of course expect they will cover all costs related since it was an error on their part. Hopefully, they make it easy and agree. It only makes sense that they would. Unfortunate the little guy and both of you had to go through that.
All this due to a really bad nurse. Doctors aren’t to blame here. They are going based on what you told them, and everything was reasonable given the diagnosis. But there should have been documentation by the nurse if she did her job properly.
What is your location? Med mal is very state-specific.
