How can I find old bankruptcy details?

Hey, I’m trying to figure out how to get the final details of a bankruptcy order from 2006. It’s about a gentleman’s case, and I’m not sure where to even start. Anyone know the best way to dig up something that old? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I think you can try contacting the court where the bankruptcy was filed. They might still have records.

Oh, good idea! Do you know if I can do that online or if I’d need to go there in person?

Depends on the court, I think. Some have online services now, but for older cases, you might need to visit.

If you know the case number, that’ll make things easier. Otherwise, you might need more details like the name and filing date.

I think I have the name but not the case number. Is that enough to start?

Yeah, it should be. The court staff might be able to help look it up for you.

You might also check with the Insolvency Service if you’re in the UK. They handle bankruptcy records.

Oh, never heard of them. Do they have a website or something?

Yep, just Google ‘UK Insolvency Service.’ They’ve got a lot of info online.

2006 is a long time ago. Not sure if all the records would still be accessible, but it’s worth a try.

Yeah, I’m worried about that too. Fingers crossed they’ve got something archived!

If it’s related to a property or business, sometimes those records are tied up with other legal docs. Might be worth checking.

Interesting point. I think it might be connected to a property, actually. I’ll look into that!
