How can I get my vehicle title re-sent to me?

So, I moved to Vermont last April and gave them my new address to mail me the title for my vehicle. It’s been months and I still haven’t received it. I even contacted the DMV, but they didn’t give me any instructions on how to get a new title mailed to me. I originally purchased the car and registered it in Chicago. Does anyone know how I can get the title sent to me again?

That sounds frustrating. Have you tried calling the Vermont DMV again to ask if there’s anything you can do to get a duplicate title? Maybe there’s an online form?

I’m guessing you could try the online route? I know some states let you request duplicate titles through their website.

Same issue happened to me when I moved. I had to actually visit a DMV office to get them to reissue the title. Not sure if you’re able to do that in Vermont though.

Hmm, that’s a tough one. I would recommend reaching out to the Illinois DMV as well. They should be able to help you track down the title since you registered the car there.

Yup, that’s what I did when I had a similar issue. Illinois DMV might be able to tell you what happened with the title.

I’d definitely check out the Vermont DMV website just in case they have some online form to submit. It’s worth a shot if you’re not near an office.

Good idea! I didn’t even think of checking online first. I’ll give that a try and let you know what happens.

It’s so annoying when stuff like this gets stuck in limbo. Hopefully, the DMV can sort it out for you quickly. Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah, it’s been frustrating. I just want the title so I can be done with this whole thing, lol.

Maybe try calling Illinois DMV just to check if they sent it out? Sometimes they might have missed sending it or there could be a delay.

That’s a good point. It could be as simple as a mailing mix-up. Definitely worth checking in with them!
