How do I get an Oklahoma license plate... anyone know?

I’m from Alaska and I need an Oklahoma plate. I’ve moved here about a month ago and I’m not sure how to go about getting one. Any ideas on how I can get it done? Do I have to visit the DMV or can it be done online?

You’ll need to visit an Oklahoma DMV office to get the plate. That’s pretty much the only way to do it. :confused:

Yeah, same here. I had to do that when I moved, took a while but no other option. Make sure you have all your documents ready!

Thanks, I’ll make sure to gather everything. Do they need proof of residency too? I’m still getting that sorted.

I think you’ll need to confirm if the car’s registered in Alaska and have proof of insurance that meets Oklahoma’s rules. Might be some paperwork to do first.

Right, you’ll need to show your vehicle title, driver’s license, and maybe your insurance info when you go to the DMV. Better to double-check everything!

Yeah, it’s a bit of a hassle, but I think if you go to any DMV office in Oklahoma, they can get you sorted with a plate. You might need a phone call to confirm details tho.

I just moved here from another state and had to visit the DMV too. Definitely make sure your insurance meets their criteria! Took me a couple of hours, but they’re pretty helpful once you’re there.

Thanks for the info! I’m planning on going this weekend. Hope it doesn’t take too long.

Just an FYI, you’ll likely need to get your car inspected too before you register it. So don’t be surprised if they ask for that!
