Hey, I live in Florida and my Class ‘D’ security license expired over a year ago (7/01/2023). I’m trying to figure out how to renew it. I saw something about needing a new application instead of a renewal. Do I need to retake the 40-hour course too? Anyone know the steps? Thanks!
I think you’ll need to apply for a new license since it’s been over a year. Check the Florida Department of Agriculture site for the forms. They might ask for a new background check too.

Thanks! Yeah, I saw something about fingerprints. Do you know if they charge extra for that?

Yeah, there’s usually a fee for Livescan fingerprinting. Last time I checked, it was around $40. Not 100% sure though.

Cool, I’ll budget for it. Thanks for the heads up!
If it’s been over three years, you might have to redo the 40-hour course. Did you call the licensing office yet?

Yeah, I called the West Palm Beach office. They said I need an appointment, so I’m following up tomorrow to confirm about the training.

Good call. Let us know what they say. That course can be a pain if you have to do it again.
Don’t forget to bring all your paperwork to the appointment. They’ll probably want a recent photo and ID too.

Oh, good point. I’ll make sure to have everything ready. Appreciate the reminder!
FYI, the processing time can take a few weeks, so don’t wait too long to get started.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll try to get this done ASAP.
When I renewed mine, they made me get new fingerprints even though it hadn’t expired that long. Just a heads up.

Got it. Sounds like fingerprints are a must. Thanks for sharing your experience!
