I got a letter saying I need to show insurance verification for my car, and I’m wondering if I can provide the info online. Anyone know if that’s possible?
I think you can do it online! I had to do something similar once. You might need your VIN and insurance reference number though. Did you check the letter for those details?

Yeah, I had to do that too. It’s a pretty simple process once you have those details. You should be able to use the DMV website to upload everything.

Wait, what’s the VIN? Is it the same as the license plate number?
@Shaye
No, the VIN is the Vehicle Identification Number, a unique code for your car. It’s usually on the dashboard near the windshield or in your car’s registration papers.
I had to do something like this before too! You can use this link to verify your insurance info online: https://mydmv.revenue.alabama.gov/TAP/_/ Just make sure you have the right details handy.

Thanks! I’ll try that out. Was worried about not finding the right portal.
I’ve gone through this before. Just follow the steps on the DMV site and you should be good to go. If it’s a random check, they usually just need proof that the car’s insured.

Got it, thanks! Should be easy enough then.
Just make sure the insurance is in your name or they might give you a hard time about it. If it’s not, you might need to explain that it’s your car but not your name on the policy.

Good point! I’d be sure to explain that in case they ask.
Yeah, I had a similar issue before. If you’re in Alabama, there’s a specific portal to submit everything. I think the link is above. Check it out!

Awesome, thanks! I’ll check it out and hopefully clear everything up soon.
