I’m worried because he has acted crazy before.
I honestly don’t know where he lives now, so sending him a check seems tricky.
What about using PayPal or email transfers?

After the order arrives, you can update the payment method. The charge is just a hold initially. Not sure how long it lasts, but I’ve changed it the day after in the past.

You might want to Venmo him the money with a note explaining the mistake.

If you go this route, might end up in small claims court if you’re unwilling to return the money. Bring a check to pay him back?
Just don’t make the same mistake again and move forward. If he notices, he can dispute through his bank.
You can still change the payment source soon after ordering. I’ve mistakenly used my company card many times and later switched it to my card without contacting my ex or Uber. You can do that directly in the app.
If he disagrees with the charge, you can just apologize if he reaches out. Make sure to remove his card for good and maybe send a money order.
If he sees that Uber Eats charge, will he think it was from you right away?

Honestly, I’m not really sure… lol
You can change the payment method; there’s an option in the email they send you. Good luck!
I always change my payment method. Just add a new card and go to the receipt for the order, and it’ll let you switch it as long as it’s within 30 days.
Can you Venmo him and add a note saying it was an accident?
You mentioned a messy breakup with police involved and you’ve changed your number. Was there a restraining order? That might change how you approach this.
If he disputes the charge, would they give him the address where it was delivered? Something to think about.
Put a check in an envelope with a note explaining what happened. Tell him that you’ve deleted his card so it won’t happen again, and ask that he doesn’t contact you. Anything else might risk this becoming a bigger issue. Make sure to copy the check and note before you send it; I’d recommend certified mail.
@Finley
Use a money order or cashier’s check instead of a personal check. Keep the stub with your copy of the certified mail receipt for your records.

Yeah, don’t send your account details to someone who doesn’t like you.
@Jai
Sending an Uber gift card might be a better idea.
If he notices, he can always challenge the transaction.
Using the word accidentally there
