Is it possible for someone to fraudulently collect child support?

I have a daughter in Indiana who will turn 18 in July 2024. Until July 2022, I hadn’t contacted her because I didn’t know where she was until I found her on Facebook. I live in Missouri and have been ordered to pay child support to her mother. But her mother doesn’t have custody, and I think my daughter lives in Ohio with her half-sister’s father for about six years. I didn’t know her mother was unfit for custody. Her mother is still getting child support fraudulently. But I don’t know where her mother is exactly, and I need to prove this to stop paying child support. I don’t have enough evidence or money for an investigation. How can I handle this so I don’t have to pay child support to her mother anymore?

I don’t want to take custody of my almost adult daughter and move her two states away from her friends and family. One idea I have is to convince the half-sister’s father to legally adopt her, so I don’t have to pay her mother anymore.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Yes, it is possible for someone to fraudulently collect child support by providing false information or hiding relevant details about their financial situation. However, such actions are illegal and can lead to serious legal consequences if discovered.

HI brother Of course! When one party gives the court false information about their income which is used to calculate how much one parent pays the other child support fraud may happen. Either the custodial parent or the noncustodial parent may be the victim of this kind of deception.but in case this happens then Visit the Court: Make a motion to bring the matter before a judge in the court that issued your child support . If a person is found guilty of child support fraud, they could be forced to pay back any unpaid child support, face steep fines, or possibly go to jail
