Is my situation grounds for a show cause board?

Following up on my conversation from a few weeks ago. Is my situation grounds for a show cause board? Any advice would be appreciated. I was stationed in Germany and didn’t make weight/body fat, but I had a referral and was supposed to do a supplemental assessment. Didn’t get the chance because I had to go back to the US for a compassionate reassignment. Now that I’ve PCS’d, I’m compliant. But there was an IG complaint from my old unit. Could a referred OER lead to a show cause board?

A show cause board can happen if there’s serious misconduct or performance issues. You should check if the IG complaint was serious enough to trigger one. Do you know what happened with the IG investigation?

@Zen
I don’t know what happened with the IG investigation. I wasn’t notified about it except by my old boss. It’s weird that it came up months after I left.

It’s possible that IG didn’t find anything major, or maybe they didn’t even close the investigation yet. Have you tried requesting the report from them?

@Zen
Not yet, but I will. Thanks for the idea. Just feels odd that it’s all coming up now.

I’ve seen cases where IG complaints triggered a board, but only if the complaint was serious and substantiated. If there was no misconduct, the complaint might not have much impact. Have you been flagged or counseled about anything?

@Cypress
I wasn’t flagged or counseled last fall when I was out of standard. It just feels like a late issue to me.

That’s odd. If they didn’t flag or notify you, it sounds like the complaint might not have been too serious. But I would definitely ask for the details on the IG investigation to be sure.

If the IG complaint isn’t serious enough, it probably won’t lead to a show cause board. But it depends on the nature of the complaint. If you’re compliant now and there’s no misconduct, you might be in the clear.

@Alden
Yeah, I’m compliant now, but I’m worried since the IG complaint came up months after I left my old unit.

It’s good that you’re compliant now. Honestly, if you didn’t get flagged or counseled, the board might not happen. But keep an eye on it and reach out to IG if you need to.

IG complaints can trigger a board, but only if the issue is serious enough. Since you didn’t hear anything back yet, it’s likely not a huge concern. I’d recommend requesting the IG investigation to get more details.

@Finley
Thanks, I will. Hopefully, I can get some clarity soon. I haven’t heard anything in 3 weeks since it came up.

If the IG complaint was filed after you left, it might not be as big of a deal. If there’s no significant allegation, it might just be a procedural thing. But yeah, ask for the IG results to be sure.

That’s what I’m hoping. I’m just waiting to hear back and trying to stay patient.
