Kicked Out by Parents – Can I Get Financial Support Without Going Back?

I’m a 16-year-old girl from Alaska, and I got kicked out by my parents last Monday because they found out I have a boyfriend. It was a really messy situation; they said some awful things and even slapped me. My boyfriend helped me pack up and took me to his place, where I’ve been living with him and his family since.

I’m wondering if there’s any way to get financial support from my parents without going back home. I don’t want to live with them again; I feel safe and happy here. I know they’re legally required to support me until I turn 18, so is there a way to get that support, or maybe something for my boyfriend’s parents since they’re like my parental figures now? Thanks for any advice

In Alaska, as in many states, you can seek child support through the state’s child support services if your parents are unwilling to provide it voluntarily. This may involve filing a case with the court, but it can help you receive the financial support you’re entitled to. Ensure you have a stable living situation and reach out to local child protective services for assistance and guidance.
