Hey everyone, I lost my driver’s license at the grocery store, I think. I’m in California. I don’t think it had any special endorsements or restrictions. I’m not really sure what to do next, anyone been through this before? How do I replace it?
Ugh, that’s so frustrating! I had the same thing happen a few months ago. First thing you gotta do is fill out a replacement application online at the CA DMV website.

You can get it on www.dmv.ca.gov. It should be under ‘Replace a Lost or Stolen License.’ Good luck!
Make sure you have proof of identity, your SSN, and 2 proofs of CA residency before you apply. You’ll need all that to show the DMV when you go in to finish the process.

Got it, thanks! Does it matter if I don’t have all the proof documents right away?

It might delay the process, so try to gather everything first. But if you don’t have one or two of the proofs, you might be able to make an appointment to bring them later.
Same thing happened to me, but I was able to just do it all online, no need to visit the DMV in person. It depends on your situation though.

Yeah, super easy! Just made sure I had my docs ready and followed the steps on the site. They mail you the new license in a couple of weeks.
Just make sure you file the report with the DMV for the lost license. They’ll flag it so no one else can use it.

You can do it online when you fill out the replacement form, pretty simple.
If you have any trouble with the website or need extra help, you can always call the DMV customer service. They’re usually pretty helpful.
