So I talked to my boss this morning about this whole harassment thing. Basically, I had a two-week fling with this lady, and now she’s been asking personal questions that make me uncomfortable. I sent her an email to keep it professional, but I’m struggling to figure out how to update my boss on the whole situation without making it sound too messy. Any suggestions on how to phrase it?
Damn, that sounds tricky… Maybe just keep it simple and focus on how it’s affecting your work? Like, say you’ve tried to set boundaries but it’s still ongoing?

Yeah, totally agree. You don’t have to go into the details about the fling. Just say you addressed it professionally and it’s still causing issues.
What do you mean by ‘keep it professional’? Did you already tell her to stop?

Yeah, I sent her an email saying I want to keep things professional. Thought that would work, but she keeps pushing.

Maybe follow up with a more direct message? Sometimes people just don’t get it unless you’re super clear.
If your boss already knows part of it, just say something like, ‘I addressed it directly with her, but the situation hasn’t improved.’ Keep it short and clear.

Good point. I guess I’m just worried about making it sound too dramatic.

Nah, as long as you focus on how it’s impacting your work, it won’t come off that way.
Wait, what did she actually say? Was it like super personal or just borderline?

It’s more like persistent questions about personal stuff even after I made it clear I wanted to keep it professional.

If she’s ignoring your boundaries, that’s definitely crossing the line. Your boss needs to know.
Maybe phrase it like, ‘I tried to address it privately and professionally, but it hasn’t resolved, and it’s starting to impact my work.’

I like that wording . Sounds way less dramatic but still gets the point across.
