My daughter is being bullied, and it’s gotten so bad that she got into a fight and was suspended. The school knows about it now, and they even had a mediation with the girls involved, but the bullying hasn’t stopped. She’s still getting texts and threats through other students. I’m at a loss about what legal steps I can take to keep her safe. Any advice?
That’s terrible! Have you asked the school what specific measures they’ll take to protect her?

Yeah, they say they’re paying more attention now, but it doesn’t feel like much has changed.

Sometimes it feels like schools just say that without really doing anything to follow up.
Could you send a formal complaint to the school or district? It might make them take it more seriously.

That’s a good idea. Maybe putting it in writing will show them I’m serious.

For sure. Written records also help if you need to escalate things later.
Have you looked into getting a ‘cease and desist’ order or something similar? It might stop the threats.

I hadn’t thought about that. I’ll have to see if that’s an option for this situation.

Might be worth asking a lawyer. It could at least make the other kids think twice about harassing her.
Document everything. That way, if this keeps up, you’ll have proof of what’s been happening.

Good idea! I’ve been keeping track but might start doing it more formally.

Yeah, documentation is key. It’s harder for them to ignore if you have a record.
Maybe see if the school will increase monitoring or support for her. It’s their job to keep her safe.

I’ve asked, but it feels like they’re not really doing enough. I might push harder on that.

Definitely push them. Schools sometimes need a bit of pressure to actually step up.
