Plumber damaged my car with a drain auger... who’s liable?

Hey everyone… I really need some advice. My landlord called a plumber to clear the main drain, and the plumber ended up damaging my car with their drain auger. It got stuck under my car and left some serious dents, plus it was covered in sewage. The plumber says they’re not liable, but I’m not sure what to do next. Any thoughts on how I can get this sorted out and get my car repaired?

You should definitely call YOUR insurance company and explain what happened. They’ll handle it and go after the plumber if they think they’re at fault.

I read online that this could still raise my rate. Is that true?

@Uma
Eh, they will either way.

Don’t stress about your rate. If it goes up, just shop around for a new insurance. It’s less hassle than dealing with this mess.

You’re paying for insurance for situations like this. Use it to fix your car and let them handle the plumber.

You’re not filing a claim for something you did; it’s for damage caused by someone else. You should be good.

Just use your insurance. You have it for a reason. Stop worrying about your rate; it’ll go up for random reasons anyway.
