I’m starting a small business/LLC in TN and want to make sure I’m covering all my bases. We haven’t launched yet, but I’d like to have a business attorney review contracts, help with trademarking, and provide advice. If anyone has recommendations, I’d appreciate it. I don’t have a huge budget for a $10k retainer or anything like that, but I hope to shortly as the business grows. Although I am not your attorney, a small business typically need an LLC. According to the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website, forming an LLC is a fairly simple process for the average person. These SOS websites cater to non-legal professionals. The $500–$1500 a lawyer will charge for this is really not necessary. A lawyer would need five minutes to file; you will probably need thirty.
