I got a traffic citation after an auto accident and I’m trying to figure out what kind of lawyer I need to contest it. Also, where can I find some good resources for this? I’m in Livingston County, MI. Any tips?
You’ll probably want a traffic lawyer for this. They specialize in cases like yours and can help with contesting citations.

Check out Avvo.com. They list traffic lawyers by location. I searched Livingston County, MI, and found one listed there.
Do you have a court date already? Sometimes lawyers can request a reschedule if needed.

Yeah, I do. If I get a lawyer, they’ll have to reschedule from what I was told.

Got it. Makes sense. Just make sure you communicate that with the lawyer you choose.
IDK, but have you tried calling local law firms? Sometimes they’ll give you free consultations to see if they can help.

Good idea, I’ll check that out too. Thanks for the tip!
Just curious, what’s a traffic lawyer? I’ve never heard of that term before.

They’re lawyers who specialize in traffic violations like speeding tickets or accident-related citations. Super helpful if you’re contesting something.

Oh, gotcha. Thanks for explaining!
FYI, sometimes these cases can be resolved without a lawyer if the citation isn’t too serious. You might just need to go to court and explain your side.

Good to know. I’ll weigh my options once I figure out how complicated this will be.
