Hey everyone, I’m setting up a small medical office (no lab or x-rays, but might add an A1c check). Does anyone know what OSHA or Dept of Health permits I’d need for this? It’s in Hawaii. Thanks in advance!
I think you’re good with just a business license. OSHA doesn’t require a permit unless you’re handling lab samples or have x-ray equipment.

Ah, got it. So as long as I keep it simple, no permit from OSHA is needed? That’s a relief!

Yep, no need for OSHA as long as it’s basic. Just focus on infection prevention standards.
For Hawaii, regular doctor’s offices don’t need a Dept of Health license, just inspections for sanitary stuff. So you should be fine there too.

Good to know! Thanks for the heads-up about the inspections, I’ll make sure we’re up to code.
You might want to look into forming a Professional Corporation since you’re a licensed doctor. It could be helpful for tax and liability purposes.

I’ve heard about that. Is it complicated to set up a Professional Corporation?

Not too bad! Mostly paperwork and registration with the Dept of Revenue for tax purposes.
Just a heads up, make sure your office space is zoned for medical use. Some areas have restrictions!

Thanks! I’ll check the zoning laws for the area. Didn’t even think of that.

Zoning can be tricky sometimes, but it’s better to sort it out early than deal with issues later!
Infection control inspections are key, especially with COVID protocols still in effect in some places. Keep things sanitized and you should be good!

Definitely! I’ll make sure we follow all the latest protocols. Thanks for the reminder!
