Who do I contact about a hazardous handicap parking space?

I’m dealing with a super hazardous handicap parking space. There’s only one spot, and the ramp is on the passenger side. The driver has to walk on the curb to get to the sidewalk, which has a huge step-off and no markings. I actually took quite a fall last week. Has anyone else had something like this happen? Not sure who to reach out to next…

That sounds really unsafe! I’d start by taking pictures of everything and then contact your local city or county compliance department. They usually handle accessibility issues. It’s important to document the fall too, just in case you need it later.

Ugh, that’s awful. I’m sorry you fell. That curb sounds dangerous. Have you tried reaching out to the property owner again, or do you feel like they won’t do anything?

I’m glad you’re taking action! If you’re getting a physical therapist involved, make sure they know about the fall. Their documentation could help if you need to take it further.

Definitely take those photos and contact your local ADA office. I had a similar issue once and they helped me out a lot. It’s a big deal when it comes to safety and access.

If you haven’t already, you might want to check if the building is required to have more than one accessible parking spot. That could be an issue too. Just FYI.
