Why is the school giving me different stories about my kid’s injury

So, my kid goes to elementary school and last Thursday, I got a call from the clinic saying he slipped on mulch and fell. They didn’t seem too concerned, but when I got there, my kid was miserable. I had to carry him to the ER, where they found two broken bones. He kept saying he slipped on the mulch, which was a little suspicious to me, but I figured accidents happen. Then when I talked to him more, he said another kid pushed him down, and that the teacher was there too. We weren’t told anything like that by the school. I emailed the principal asking for CCTV footage, and apparently, they don’t have any working cameras in the area where it happened. Now they’re telling me he fell off play equipment. This whole thing just doesn’t add up. My kid had to have surgery because of this, and I’m just looking for some legal advice on what to do next.

That’s so messed up. I can’t believe they don’t have cameras in that area. Have you tried reaching out to other parents or teachers about what happened?

This sounds super shady. The school’s stories don’t add up at all. Have you considered getting a lawyer involved?

I’m talking to a legal expert now, but it’s just been frustrating dealing with the school’s back-and-forth.

I had a similar issue with my kid. The school kept changing their story too. Have you talked to other parents whose kids play in that area?

I haven’t reached out yet, but that’s a good idea. I’ll see if I can connect with some other parents and get their perspective.

I get why you’re suspicious. It sounds like they’re covering up something. Have you asked about any witness statements from other teachers?

The principal mentioned another teacher saw it, but I still don’t know who that is. I might need to push for more details.

So sorry your kid had to go through that. If it were me, I’d definitely keep pushing for the truth. Keep us posted on how things go!
