Anyone dealt with a grandparent visitation court case?

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who’s gone to court against grandparents… My partner’s dad is taking us to court for visitation over my two kids (5 and 3). The oldest isn’t related to him, as they’re from a previous relationship. We stopped contact earlier this year because I was tired of his constant drama and there are some serious safeguarding concerns. Would love to hear your experiences and tips!

Wow, that sounds really tough. I had a similar situation with my in-laws. How did it all start for you?

It started when we just decided we couldn’t deal with the drama anymore. He was always crossing boundaries.

Yeah, I get that. Sometimes you have to protect your kids first.

I’m sorry to hear this. Have you considered getting a lawyer for this? It might help.

We are looking into it! Just want to make sure we have the right support.

Honestly, courts can be unpredictable. Just document everything. It helped us a lot.

That’s good advice! I’ve been keeping notes on all the issues.

What do you mean by documenting? Like just writing stuff down?

Exactly! Keep track of any incidents, conversations, or anything that feels off. It can really help your case.

It’s scary to think about how the court might decide. I’d be worried too. Just stay strong!

Thanks! It’s definitely nerve-wracking. Just want to keep my kids safe.

I had a case like this and ended up winning, but it took ages. Keep fighting for your kids!

That gives me hope! How long did it take for you?

About a year. It was rough, but worth it. Just don’t give up!
