Anyone else blow a violation but pass a few minutes later?

So this morning, I blew a violation on my test but kept retesting every 5 minutes until I finally passed about 20 minutes later. Not sure what happened, but it eventually cleared. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried about it coming up later?

Yeah, I had something similar happen a while back. It might’ve been a false positive? Was your equipment calibrated recently?

Honestly, no idea about the calibration. I just assumed it was working fine. Do I need to get it checked?

You should. A lot of those devices need regular calibration to work properly. Might save you stress later.

If you’re on bond or probation, you should definitely document what happened. Maybe let your lawyer know too?

Good point. I didn’t think to write anything down. What exactly should I document?

Just note the time, how often you retested, and when it finally cleared. It might help if you need to explain later.

Could’ve been something you ate or drank earlier. Sometimes random stuff can throw those tests off.

Yeah, certain foods or even mouthwash can mess with the readings. Happened to a friend once!

Oh wow, I didn’t even think of that. I did use mouthwash earlier… could that really do it?

I’d say don’t stress too much unless you get contacted about it later. But yeah, keeping a record doesn’t hurt.

Totally agree. Most of the time, these things blow over unless it gets flagged for review.

Thanks for the reassurance. I’ll just stay on top of it in case anything pops up.

IDK if this helps, but some devices record every blow. Might be worth asking if yours does just to cover yourself.

Yeah, they usually log the timestamps. If it shows you passed later, you should be okay.

I’ll look into that. I didn’t even know it kept logs. Appreciate the heads-up!
