Anyone else ever feel trapped by family expectations and sensitivities?

Hey everyone, just wanted to share some thoughts. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this way, but I’ve been reflecting on how my sensitivity has shaped my life decisions. It started in school, where I didn’t take medication for concentration issues because of family pressure. Later, I realized that my decision to study computers instead of engineering was influenced by a mix of external expectations and my own sensitivities. Even now, with everything going on, I sometimes feel like I’m reacting to situations based on other people’s feelings rather than my own. Anyone else feel like this sometimes?

I totally get where you’re coming from. I had similar issues in school, always feeling like I had to do what was expected rather than what I truly wanted.

Yeah, I felt the same about choosing a career path based on family pressure. It wasn’t until later I realized I wasn’t following my passion.

It’s crazy how those early decisions can shape us without us even realizing. But it’s never too late to change direction .

Sometimes it feels like we can’t win, no matter which decision we make. But acknowledging it is the first step, I guess.

I think it’s super common to feel like you’re caught between your own desires and what others expect from you. The pressure can be overwhelming.

Totally agree! Even now, I sometimes wonder if I’d have been happier choosing a different path. It’s a tough cycle to break.

It took me years to realize how much family expectations played a role in my choices. It’s been a journey to focus on what’s truly important for me.

It’s great that you’ve found that clarity! I’m still figuring out how to balance my own goals with everything that’s expected of me.

I totally relate to this. I wish I’d taken action earlier in my life instead of second-guessing myself based on what everyone else thought.

Yeah, hindsight is 20/20, right? But at least now you know better and can start making decisions for you.

It’s really tough when you feel like you can’t trust your own instincts because you’re too focused on others’ opinions. You’re not alone in this .

Exactly! It’s like you’re constantly worried about letting people down. But as you said, acknowledging it is the first step towards change.
