So, I’m in this situation where I’ve been facing harassment and discrimination while trying to get ADA accommodations. My employer has a designated LOA specialist, but the Chief HR Officer (CHO) got involved, and I feel like that’s why this whole process is so rough. Is it even allowed for the CHO to be handling this instead of the LOA specialist? Anyone know?
That sounds tough. Honestly, having the CHO involved instead of the LOA specialist could mess things up. LOA specialists are usually supposed to keep it neutral, right?

Exactly! LOA specialists are there for a reason… keeping things fair and unbiased. CHOs could bring in unnecessary pressure.

Yeah, that’s exactly it. I feel like I’m being treated unfairly because the CHO is so involved in it all.
Have you considered asking them to explain why the CHO is involved? Seems like a legit question given the circumstances.

I actually thought about it, but didn’t want to seem confrontational. I might just go for it though, especially if it could help.

Yeah, could be worth it. Like, if the CHO doesn’t really need to be in the loop, why are they there?
Doesn’t sound right to me either. I’ve heard ADA accommodations should be handled by specific roles to keep things fair and balanced.

Totally agree. I feel like having the CHO involved has just made it all harder for me.
Not to mention, having to go through all this and still deal with harassment? That’s unacceptable.
