Hey everyone, I’m a visitor to the USA and I got a speeding citation in Orange County, NC on October 25th, 2024. The citation says I need to appear in court on December 4th, 2024, but I’m already back in my country (India). Is there a way to handle this online without having to travel back to the US? I really don’t want to fly all the way back just for a court appearance… anyone have any advice?
I think you can handle it online if the citation allows. Sometimes you can just pay the fine online or contact the court clerk to sort it out.

Yeah, I agree with XYZ. You could also talk to a traffic lawyer in NC. They can appear for you in court and sort it out without you needing to be there.
@Ren
I didn’t know lawyers could do that! Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into it.
You might need to hire a local lawyer to represent you if the citation requires a court appearance. They can often get the judge to waive the requirement for you to be there.

I had a similar case once. A lawyer handled everything for me. It worked out fine, no need to travel.
I’m pretty sure you’ll need an attorney to appear in court for you. Just get in touch with one in NC who specializes in traffic tickets.

Yeah, I had a speeding ticket in NC too. The attorney handled the case, and I didn’t need to show up.
Try using websites like lawyers.com or Martindale to find a lawyer in NC. They can help with everything remotely!

Oh, I’ve used Martindale before. It’s easy to find good lawyers there. Good advice!
You might be able to settle this by paying online or having an attorney represent you. Definitely check if that’s an option!

I’ll reach out to the court and see if I can just pay online. Thanks for the suggestion!
