Hey everyone… I need some advice. A friend of mine has a granddaughter in South Carolina who’s been through a lot. She was taken from her mom and now her dad, who’s abusive, is trying to force her back to him. She’s in a foster home right now, but they want to reunify her with him. It’s so messed up! She reported the abuse, but it feels like no one is listening. What can we do to help her? Any legal advice or resources would be super appreciated.
I think you should definitely call the police for a welfare check. Reporting the abuse to CPS is key. If the family can file an emergency order, that might help too. She’s old enough to talk to the cops about what’s happening.
Yeah, but it sounds like she’s stuck in a tough spot. The state wants her to meet with her dad, and he’s the one causing all this. IDK how they can push her to reconcile with him. It’s so frustrating…

What does reconcile mean? I’m not familiar with that term.

It means to restore a relationship. But in this case, it’s really dangerous for her to be around him.
This situation sounds really serious. Have you thought about looking for local advocacy groups? They might have resources to help her fight this.
I’d recommend reaching out to a lawyer who specializes in family law. They can provide guidance on how to navigate this mess and protect her rights.
It’s heartbreaking to hear this. I can’t believe they’d even think of sending her back. Keep pushing for her voice to be heard. She deserves safety and support!
