So my Texas driver’s license expired on 10/20/2023, and I need to renew it ASAP. I was hoping to go to the Milam County office, but if they’re not available, I’ll drive to the nearest one that is. It’s really urgent to get this done today. Anyone know what my options are?
You’re still in luck! Texas lets you renew your license up to two years after it expires. You can renew online if you’re under 79, and your details haven’t changed. Super quick if you’ve got your license number and the audit number from your old one.
@Breck
Oh, nice! Didn’t realize I could do it online. I’ll try that out first, thanks for the tip!
If online renewal doesn’t work for you, you can head to any Texas DPS office. Since you’re in a rush, check the appointment system to see if there’s an earlier slot somewhere nearby. They usually book up fast though!
@Whit
Good call, I’ll check the system. Hopefully, I can get in somewhere soon.
Just FYI, if you’re visiting in person, you’ll need to bring proof of identity, Social Security number, and Texas residency. Don’t forget those docs!

Thanks! I would have totally forgotten about that, lol. I’ll make sure to gather everything now.
If Milam County is backed up, you could also check out the Cameron Driver License Office, if that’s closer to you. Just make sure to check if you need an appointment first!

That’s a great idea! I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks for the heads-up.
Online renewal is super easy and fast! You can do it right from the DPS website, no need to go anywhere if you’re eligible. Try that first, you might be able to do everything in minutes.

I’m gonna try online first for sure. Fingers crossed it works, lol.
