I graduated from a private nursing school on August 2, 2024, and they still haven’t sent my transcripts or completion info to the state. I’ve contacted them multiple times, and I don’t owe them any money, so IDK why this is happening. Can I sue them to get my records released?
Sounds super frustrating. Did you try contacting the registrar’s office or the administration directly?

Yeah, I’ve called them several times, but they keep giving me the runaround. It’s so annoying.

Ugh, that’s rough. You might want to send them a certified letter demanding they release your records.
If you’ve already tried talking to them and nothing’s changed, you could look into filing a formal complaint with your state’s education board.

Good idea. Do you know if they can actually force the school to release my info?

Depends on the state, but they can investigate and push the school to comply with the rules.
You might have a case for a lawsuit if they’re withholding your transcripts without a valid reason. A lawyer could confirm that.

I’m thinking about it. Would it be expensive to hire a lawyer for something like this?

It might not be too bad. Some lawyers offer free consultations, so you can get an idea of costs upfront.
Not sure if you’ve tried this, but sometimes schools respond faster if you involve the state nursing board or a legal aid group.

I’ll give the nursing board a shot. Legal aid is a good backup too. Thanks!
Definitely frustrating, but make sure to keep all communication documented. Emails, phone calls, everything—it’ll help if you take legal action.

Great tip. I’ve been mostly calling them, but I’ll start emailing so there’s a paper trail.
