I was on an approved FMLA medical leave and met all my bonus eligibility requirements when I came back. Now my company is delaying my bonus because of some system limitation. Is that allowed?
Legally, they can delay it if it’s a system issue and not something against you. But it sounds frustrating!

Yeah, it’s super annoying! I just want to know when I’m getting my bonus.
FYI, bonuses are often at the discretion of the company unless you have something in writing that guarantees it. Have you checked with HR?

What do you mean by ‘discretion’? Does that mean they could just not pay it?

I had something similar happen at my old job. They delayed my bonus but eventually paid it once their system updated. Hang in there!

Did you ask if they could process it manually? Sometimes companies can do that if their systems are slow.

Good idea! I’ll ask if that’s possible. Maybe they can push it through faster.
I understand your frustration. Bonus delays are the worst, but if it’s a legit system issue, there might not be much they can do until it updates.

Yeah, seems like I just have to wait it out. At least I know I’m still eligible.
